Ship life is interesting. At first, it is a lot of fun. Then classes start, and it gets a little less fun. Then you start getting lots of work, and it gets a little less fun. Then you realize you haven't seen land in 5 days, and it gets a little more strange...you get the picture. I love the ship...I really do. But, I really want to be in the next port city. I want to see some land cuz its been a while. Getting up early every day, going to class, losing an hour at night, and doing homework for classes gets a little boring...hehe. Anyways, we have a guest port lecturer with us on board the ship, and he gave a lecture yesterday on dining out in Spain. I think everyone on the ship was starving after that lecture. He was absolutely hilarious and gave us great tips and recommendations. I loved the lecture. The only problem was that it was too early. We walked out of the lecture room, and realized there were still 4 days of ship food and classes until Spain. I kinda wish they had saved that lecture for 1-2 days before port. Now, I realllly want to be in Spain right now, but I will have to wait.
Today was the first time in my life I had a class on Sunday. I woke up at 7 AM, and rolled out of bed. I swear, I don't even know what day of the week it is anymore. All I knew was that it was day A3 (we have A days and B days for class). Only after I came to my first class did I realize that here I was in class at 8 AM on a Sunday morning. Even our professor was slightly upset. But we still had a great class. I love my biomedical ethics professor. She is very funny and engaging and a great teacher. During the middle of class today, she stood between the projector and the screen and saw her shadow on the screen. Then, she starting making shadow puppets with both her hands, and her 2 puppets had a conversation with each other about how its morally wrong to have Sunday class and how the material was sooo difficult. It was hilarious. I enjoy that class, and I feel it will help me form a strong foundation in biomedical ethics, a field I will have to deal with for the rest of my life.
I am very excited for Spain!! Just 3 days to go. Well, technically 2 more full days, and then we wake up in Cadiz, Spain on the third. I am excited to see Sevilla and Cordoba, and eat the Spanish food.
